V7000 & V9000 FAQ                                                 >>TOP

Q: What is that black connector on the AV cable?

A: It's a secondary power input

Q: Does the V7000 / V9000 support 4x3?

A: Yes it does. You can change between 16x9 and 4x3 in the menu or with the remote.

Q: I see horizontal lines on the screen when I use my V7000 or V9000. Is it defective?

A: The monitor is not defective. In order to fix it you must change the mode to 1 or 2. In order to do that you must go to the setup menu and under the mode option make sure you on mode 1 for 16x9 or mode 2 for 4x3.

Q: The breakout cable has stereo AV connectors but the monitor is only mono. What's the deal?

A: The monitor has two video inputs and one audio input. The yellow and red connectors are video and the white connector is audio.

Q: The break out cable looks like it has a USB connector. Does the monitor have any USB capabilities?

A: No. We only use the USB connector to send the video and audio signals to the monitor.

Q: Since the breakout cable uses a USB connector can I use a USB extension cable if I need more length.

A: Yes, you can use a USB extension cable to extend the breakout cable.

V8000HD                                                                    >>TOP

Q: What is the thread mounting size on the bottom of the V8000HD?

A: The V8000HD uses an industry standard Quarter-Twenty thread mount.

Q: Can the V8000HD flip the image?

A: The V8000HD does not flip the image ‘electronically’ however most videographers will use a high quality articulating arm
(for example arms from Zacuto at Zacuto.com) to mount an on-camera monitor and then do a simple ‘manual’ flip.

Q: Does the V8000HD have an underscan feature?

A: Even though the V8000HD does not have an underscan button LCD panels are in general considered already underscanned. The underscan function shrinks the image so one can see absolutely everything the camera is shooting. This is valuable on production sets for spotting things like boom mikes that might later be visible during post production. LCD panels (unlike CRTs) show most, if not all that the camera sees. The frame surrounding the panel can of course limit the view but this is not an issue with the V8000HD. What you see is basically what to get.

Q: Should I use the V8000HD integrated on-board trickle charger as my main battery charger for location production?

A: No, the V8000HD on-board trickle charger is for use as a back-up field trickle-charger only. All properly equipped field production packs should contain at least one stand-alone battery charger in addition to a back-up unit.

Q: I placed a "L" series battery on the monitor and I’m wondering about the “fit”. It goes on really hard and I can see that the monitor pins do not go all the way into the battery. Should I be concerned?

A: You should not be concerned. With the 970 battery you will notice
that the pins don’t go all the way in. That is normal. After some use
the battery should slide in easier.

Q: I tried using a Lenmar Sony compatible battery with the V8000HD and It doesn't power the monitor. Is my monitor defective?

A: No, The V8000HD has been confirmed to work with: Sony's official batteries and ikan's Sony compatible batteries. The Lenmar Sony compatible batteries are not compatible with the V8000HD.

CameraCradle™ FAQ

Q: Will the iKan Camera Cradle hold my full size shoulder mount broadcast camera?

A: The CameraCradle was designed for today’s small-form three chip professional cameras such as the Panasonic HVX-200, the Sony Z1U, the Canon XH-A1, etc. However the CameraCradle can be used to stabilize larger broadcast cameras if placed on a table top or on the floor for low angle shots. We do not recommend using the shoulder strap and waist belt with full size production cameras.

Q: What’s inside the iKan CameraCradle?

A: The CameraCradle is filled with high quality foam polystyrene micro beads made in the USA. The beads are designed to hold their shape when you strap your camera on top.
They mold around your camera and gently hold it in place (along with the included top straps) so you can comfortably carrying your pro-video recording device for extended multi-hour shoots.

Q: Can I wash my CameraCradle?

A: The CameraCradle can be machine washed in warm water; however you must REMOVE the micro-beads before doing so. On the bottom of the CameraCradle you will find a Velcro covered zipper which leads to the micro-bead cavity. Temporarily place the micro-beads in a large plastic bag and carefully reinsert when the CameraCradle bag is laundered and totally dry. Use caution as the beads are small and can quite easily create a big mess!

Q: What are those little pockets on the sides of the CameraCradle?

A: The horizontal side pockets were designed to hold wireless mic receivers. The pockets are double ended with full and split Velcro flaps so the receivers are held firmly in place yet there are openings for the antennas and XLR mic cables.
